This class is an abbreviated portion of the Ashtanga Primary Series as taught by Sri K Pattabhi Jois.  This powerful, healing practice is a specific sequence of postures (asana) linking breath (pranayama) and movement (vinyasa).  Ashtanga is an athletic flow combining strength, flexibility and stamina for a complete practice.  The Ashtanga Primary series is called Yoga Chikitsa, meaning yoga therapy, because of the cleansing and toning effect it has on both body and mind.  This class is traditionally practiced without music, as it can be a moving meditation.
